National Games: Players from Haryana, UP, Maharashtra and Services shine on the second day of Taekwondo

Rudrapur, 8 February (HS): Players performed well on the second day of Taekwondo competitions of the 38th National Games. Athletes from all over the country showed their talent in Kyorgi and Poomse events. Players from Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Services performed well and won medals.

Strong competition in Kyorgi event

In the women’s over 73 kg category, Himanshi Antil of Haryana showed excellent performance and won the gold medal, while Rodali Barua of Assam had to be content with the silver medal. Shreya Nitin Jadhav of Maharashtra and Ruchika Shrirang Bhave of Odisha won bronze medals.

The title match of the women’s under 49 kg category was held between two players of Uttar Pradesh, where Vaishnavi won the gold medal by defeating Nayan Avinash Barje. Divya Bhardwaj of Uttarakhand and Diksha of Haryana won bronze medals.

In the women’s under 62 kg category, Rishita Raj of Uttar Pradesh showed her agility and skill and won the gold medal. Bhumika Jantwal of Uttarakhand won the silver medal, while Manisha Suddharam Guttedar and Bharti Rohidas More of Maharashtra won the bronze medals.

In the men’s over 87 kg category, Maha Gaurav Dattatreya Bhat of Maharashtra won the gold medal, while Raj Rituraj Yadav of Rajasthan got the silver medal. Pritam R of Karnataka and Kavya Talreja of Uttarakhand won the bronze medals.

In the men’s under 58 kg category, Abdul Wahid J of Services won the gold medal, while Aman Kumar of Haryana had to be content with the silver medal. Honey Yadav of Madhya Pradesh and Ayush Sandeep Ohal of Maharashtra won the bronze medals.

In the men’s under 74 kg category, Ashish of Jammu and Kashmir won the gold medal by showing excellent performance. Ramveer Gurjar of Services got the silver medal, while Rahul Singh and Rishabh Adhikari of Uttarakhand won the bronze medals.

Technical skills displayed in Poomse Mixed Pairs competition

The Poomse Mixed Pairs event saw teams from different states display their skills and coordination. Top eight pairs participated in the event, with Maharashtra fielding two teams (Maharashtra A and Maharashtra B).

The participating pairs were as follows:

Maharashtra – A: Harnekar Mrinal Shashikant and Singh Thakur Vansh Prem

Arunachal Pradesh: Ryodhi Pikri and Teja Miching

Maharashtra – B: Ched Husundhra Vinodkumar and Bhole Shivani Rishikesh

Delhi: Shilpa Thapa and Kunal K umar

Excitement in Taekwondo increasing

As the competition progresses, the exciting Taekwondo matches are enthralling the audience. More exciting matches will be seen in the coming days as the athletes work hard to achieve glory in the National Games.
