NEW DELHI, 12 March (H.S.): The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has set an ambitious
goal of achieving complete solar energy utilization by 2026, alongside the
provision of 9,000 new water connections across 34 JJ clusters within the next
6 months. Additionally, the council is focused on the installation of these new
connections within the specified timeframe.
The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) held its inaugural
council meeting following the Delhi Assembly elections. The meeting
concentrated on significant civic initiatives, which include an ambitious goal
of achieving complete solar energy adoption by 2026 and the provision of 9,000
new water connections across 34 JJ clusters within the next six months, thereby
benefiting 47,000 residents.
During a press conference, Kuljeet Singh Chahal, the Vice
Chairman of NDMC, declared that the municipal authority would match the
subsidies provided by the central government to promote the adoption of solar
energy. In the near future, solar panels will be installed on every
rooftop within the NDMC jurisdiction, with a conclusive decision anticipated in
the upcoming council meeting. Our objective is to achieve self-sustainability
for NDMC by the year 2026, stated Chahal.
The municipal authority intends to establish 9,000 new
connections within a six-month timeframe, as part of its comprehensive
initiative to upgrade civic infrastructure and enhance the quality of life for
residents within its jurisdiction, he stated. As per an official announcement

Swaraj, who administered the Oath to three newly appointed members: New Delhi
MLA and Delhi minister Parvesh Verma, Delhi Cantonment MLA Virender Singh
Kadian, and Ravi Kumar Arora, Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Housing
and Urban Affairs.
The municipal council consists of a chairman, both official
and unofficial members, as well as elected representatives. Non-elected members
are nominated by the Ministry of Home Affairs for terms lasting five years. The
elected representatives include the Member of Parliament for New Delhi, the
Member of the Legislative Assembly for New Delhi, and the Member of the
Legislative Assembly for Delhi Cantonment. After the ceremony, Verma led the
council meeting, which was attended by Swaraj, NDMC Chairperson Keshav Chandra,
Vice Chairperson Chahal, and other council members, including Anil Valmiki,

A range of essential initiatives focused on enhancing civic
