
NEW DELHI, 6 March (H.S.) : The New Delhi
Municipal Council (NDMC) has decided to open property tax collection counters
as well as tax offices every Saturday and Sunday in addition to the normal
working days in the month of March. NDMC has announced that due to the final
phase of the financial year 2024-2025, it will remain open every Saturday and
Sunday in addition to the normal working days in March.
The notice
said that by declaring the entire month of March as working days for the
purpose of tax collection, taxpayers have been facilitated in depositing their
due tax payments in time.
NDMC has set
up three deposit counters for depositing tax: Shaheed Bhagat Singh Place Cash
Counter at Gole Market, Palika Bhawan Cash Counter at RK Puram, and Palika
Kendra Cash Counter at Sansad Marg. NDMC oversees tax on about 15,600
properties in its jurisdiction. These include about 1600 government properties
and about 14 thousand private properties. Out of these, one thousand properties
are exempt from taxation. Rs 807 crore has been collected from 9,600 taxable
properties till mid-February 2024-25. The last date for depositing tax for this
financial year has been fixed as March 31. The NDMC aims to collect Rs 1,150
crore from property tax in 2024-25. Rs 1,030 crore was collected in 2023-24.
Besides this, property owners can deposit their taxes online, and their
respective RWAs are also helping those who are not comfortable with the online
system to deposit the tax.
