Neeraj Chopra clinched his first Diamond League title in two years in Paris

Paris/New Delhi, June 21(HS): Neeraj Chopra, India’s Olympic gold medal-winning javelin thrower, has clinched his first Diamond League title in two years at the Diamond League meet in Paris. He led with a throw of 88.16 meters on his first attempt, securing victory. This marked his second Diamond League event of the season; he previously excelled in Doha, achieving a personal best of 90.23 meters. Germany’s Julian Weber finished second with 87.88 meters, while Brazil’s Luiz Mauricio da Silva placed third with a career-best throw of 86.62 meters, setting a new South American record.

Grenada’s Anderson Peters, a strong competitor, ranked fifth with a best of 80.29 meters, and Trinidad and Tobago’s Keshorn Walcott took fourth with 81.66 meters. Neeraj returned to the Paris Diamond League after an eight-year gap, having previously participated in 2017 as a junior world champion. His upcoming competitions include the Ostrava Golden Spike in the Czech Republic on June 24, and he will host the inaugural ‘Neeraj Chopra Classic’ in Bengaluru on July 5.
