Neeraj Chopra secures second place at Janusz Kusocinski Memorial 2025, 22nd consecutive top-two finish

New Delhi, May 24 (HS): In the Janusz Kusocinski Memorial 2025 javelin throw event held in Poland on Friday, India’s star athlete Neeraj Chopra made a strong comeback, achieving second place with a throw of 84.14 meters in his final attempt.

In this competition, Germany’s Julian Weber secured first place with his best throw of 86.12 meters, which he achieved in the second round. Meanwhile, Grenada’s Anderson Peters finished third with a throw of 83.24 meters, as Neeraj pushed Peters behind in his last attempt.

Olympic champion Neeraj’s start this time was lackluster. He made a foul in his first attempt, and in the second round, he threw 81.28 meters. He also fouled in both his third and fourth attempts. However, in the fifth round, he improved to 81.80 meters and secured his place in the top-2 with a final throw of 84.14 meters.

This marks Neeraj Chopra’s consecutive 22nd event in which he has finished in the top-2. The last time he was outside the top-2 was on June 26, 2021, at the Kuortane Games held in Finland.

Neeraj Chopra will now participate in the Ostrava Golden Spike Meet that will take place in the Czech Republic on June 24, where he will once again attempt to achieve a podium finish.
