Nepal Announces Immediate Relief for Families of 72 Killed in Protests

Kathmandu, September 15 (HS): Newly appointed Home and Law Minister Om Prakash Aryal on Monday assumed charge at Singha Durbar shortly after being sworn in at Sheetal Niwas.

Soon after taking office, Aryal announced immediate relief measures for the families of 72 people killed during the September 8–9 “Gen-Z” protests. He declared that each bereaved family would receive 100,000 rupees to cover funeral expenses.

The minister further announced that a National Day of Mourning will be observed in memory of the victims, with national flags to be flown at half-mast on all government buildings.
