Kathmandu, May 9 (HS): In response to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, several party parliamentarians in Nepal have called for a special discussion in Parliament, citing potential impacts on Nepal. Members of the House of Representatives, including Shishir Khanal from the National Independent Party, expressed concerns about the war-like situation affecting Nepal’s supply systems, urging the government to prepare adequately.
Sher Bahadur Kunwar, from the Unified Socialist Party, emphasized that conflict in India could disrupt fuel and food supplies, thus highlighting the necessity of government preparedness and informing citizens.
Additionally, Saraswati Subba from the ruling Nepal Communist Party (UML) pointed out that Nepal’s open border with India and geographic connections could pose security risks. She also called for parliamentary discussions on the pressing situation under the current Oli government, reinforcing the urgency of addressing these geopolitical concerns.
