Kathmandu, March 16 (H.S.): In line with the convenience of Indian devotees, arrangements have now been made for donations at the Muktinath temple to be given via the Indian online payment system, Bhim UPI. The Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank, Maha Prasad Adhikari, unveiled this facility in the temple premises. This service has been initiated following an agreement with PhonePe in Nepal.
Until now, the facility to make donations or pay for special worship at the Pashupatinath temple in Kathmandu was only available for any Indian online payment system, but this facility has now also been started at the Muktinath temple. Governor Adhikari stated that Indian devotees can now make payments via QR codes instead of providing cash as donations or offerings after visiting this temple. He mentioned that after visiting the Pashupatinath temple in Kathmandu, Indian devotees typically go to Muktinath temple. Adhikari said that with the availability of online payment facilities between Nepal and India, it has become much easier for Indian tourists and devotees.
India’s Reserve Bank has legally recognized only 100 or smaller denomination notes in Nepal. This has caused significant inconvenience for Indian travelers. Additionally, Indian tourists coming to Nepal cannot carry more than 25,000 rupees in cash, which also poses difficulties for Indian citizens.
