
New Delhi, June 21 (H.S.): In the financial year 2025-26, net direct tax collection has decreased to ₹4.59 lakh crore, reflecting a 1.39% decline compared to the same period last year, largely due to slow advance tax collection. Conversely, gross direct tax collection increased by 4.86% to ₹5.45 lakh crore from ₹5.19 lakh crore in the previous year. Advance tax collection grew modestly by 3.87% to ₹1.56 lakh crore, while in the previous year, it had surged by 27%. Corporate tax collection fell by approximately ₹1.73 lakh crore, over 5% lower than last year, while non-corporate tax, including personal income tax, saw a slight increase of 0.7% to ₹2.73 lakh crore. Securities transaction tax (STT) rose by 12% to ₹13,013 crore. Overall, from April 1 to June 19, 2025, net direct tax collection stood at about ₹4.59 lakh crore, down from ₹4.65 lakh crore during the same timeframe in 2024.
