New rules to ensure compensation for chit fund scam cictims: Odisha CM

Bhubaneswar, 24 March (H.S.) Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has announced that the state government will introduce new rules to ensure timely compensation for victims of chit fund scams.

In a written reply during the Question Hour of the ongoing Odisha Legislative Assembly session, CM Majhi informed that updated guidelines are being prepared to streamline the refund process for affected depositors.

According to the Chief Minister, a total of ₹45.69 crore has already been refunded to 96,474 beneficiaries. To expedite compensation for the remaining victims, the government is implementing swift and decisive measures.

The Chief Minister further noted that the commission, appointed to look into the chit fund scam, has recommended refunds for 4,72,651 individuals across seven interim reports. These steps are part of the state government’s efforts to provide relief and justice to those defrauded by chit fund operators.
