Sambhal,
28 April (HS): A court on Monday scheduled the next hearing of the case stating
that the Shahi Jama Masjid in Sambhal was originally a Harihar Mandir for July
3. The case was scheduled to be heard by Civil Judge (Senior Division) Aditya
Singh at the Chandausi Court. Shrigaopal Sharma, an advocate representing the
Hindu side, stated that the Jama Masjid management committee was supposed to provide
a written statement on the topic but did not do so. We pleaded to the court to
shut their opportunity to file the statement, Sharma said, adding that the next
hearing has been scheduled for July 3.
Shakeel
Ahmad Warsi, a counsel representing the Shahi Jama Masjid management committee,
stated that the court adjourned the hearing without conducting any substantive
proceedings on Monday. The petition asserting that the Shahi Jama Masjid was
previously a Harihar Mandir was filed with the Civil Judge (Senior Division) on
November 19, last year. Since then,
hearings have been place on November 19, 29, January 8, and March 5.
