No differences in NC: MP Chowdhary Ramzan
Srinagar, Jan 01 (KINS): Rejecting speculation of internal discord within the National Conference (NC), Rajya Sabha MP Chowdhary Ramzan on Thursday said the party remains united and focused.
Speaking to reporters after a felicitation ceremony organised following his appointment as Additional General Secretary of the NC, Ramzan dismissed reports of differences with party MP Aga Ruhullah, saying there is no rift either within the party or with its leadership.
“There is absolutely no rift in the National Conference. Aga Ruhullah is young and energetic and wants things to move faster. That is the only difference. Our intention, vision and political direction are the same,” Ramzan said.
He added that any differences are related only to approach, not to ideology or objectives. Ramzan said he met Aga Ruhullah during the recent Parliament session and found him fully aligned with the party leadership.
“I did not find him opposing the party or its leadership in any way. He is committed to the same political goals and stands firmly with the National Conference,” he said.
On engagement with the Centre, Ramzan said a detailed memorandum highlighting key issues has already been submitted to the Union Home Minister, who has assured positive consideration.
“The Home Minister has given an assurance. The Chief Minister will meet him soon to discuss the remaining issues and take the dialogue forward,” he said.
Dismissing claims of inaction by the Centre, Ramzan said sufficient time must be given for the process to move ahead.
“It has only been around ten days since the meeting. These matters take time and there is no intentional delay,” he clarified.
Ramzan also informed that he will attend the upcoming meeting of the Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Home Affairs in Port Blair as a committee member.
“Several important issues will be discussed during the meeting, and I will raise matters of concern there,” he said.
On strengthening the party organisation, Ramzan said NC workers are active across Jammu and Kashmir but stressed the need for deeper engagement at the grassroots level.
“We must connect more with our workers, particularly in remote areas, understand their concerns and further strengthen the party organisation,” he said, reaffirming his commitment to the National Conference.(KINS)
