New Delhi, March 7 (HS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday described the role of nutritious food as important in the journey of developed India and said that our goal is to provide adequate nutrition to every family in the country to get rid of problems like malnutrition and anemia.
The Prime Minister was addressing the public meeting after launching the Surat Food Security Saturation Campaign in Gujarat. The Prime Minister said that the Surat Food Security Saturation Campaign is a remarkable step in the country’s food and nutrition security mission. He said that Surat is a leading city in the country as well as Gujarat in many matters. Surat is today moving ahead in providing food and nutrition security to the poor and the deprived.
Modi said that this saturation campaign will move forward by leaving the spirit of appeasement and the spirit of satisfaction. He said that this saturation campaign being run in Surat will also become an inspiration for other districts of Gujarat and the rest of the states of the country. He said that when the government itself is going to the beneficiary’s door, how will anyone be left out and when no one is left out, how will anyone be upset. When the thinking is that we have to benefit everyone, then the fraudsters run away.
The Prime Minister said ,A few days ago I urged the women power of the country to share their successes, their achievements, the inspirational journey of their life on the NaMo app. Many sisters and daughters have shared their stories on the NaMo app. Tomorrow is Women’s Day and tomorrow on the occasion of Women’s Day, I am going to hand over my social account to some such inspirational sisters and daughters.
He said, I am satisfied, our government has always stood with the poor as their partner. During the Covid period, when the countrymen needed support the most, the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana was started. This is the world’s largest and a unique scheme in itself, which is running till date.
Taking a dig at the slogan of Garibi Hatao of the previous governments, the Prime Minister said that earlier poverty was not eradicated. He said that in the last 10 years, 25 crore people have come out of poverty.
The Prime Minister said ,in the last decade, we worked on a mission mode to empower the poor in the entire country. A security shield was created around the poor so that they do not have to beg in front of anyone. Be it a concrete house, toilet, gas connection, tap connection, this gave new confidence to the poor. He said that a security shield of insurance was given to the poor families. For the first time, free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh was ensured to about 60 crore Indians. Apart from this, our government also gave the security shield of insurance to the poor and the lower middle class. Today more than 36 crore people in the country are associated with government insurance schemes and so far more than Rs 16,000 crore has been given to these families in the form of claim amount.
Referring to One Nation One Ration Card, the Prime Minister said ,Earlier the ration card of one place was not valid at another place. We solved this problem. We implemented One Nation One Ration Card. Now, no matter where the ration card is from, the beneficiary gets its benefits in every city of the country. He said that earlier there were more than 5 crore fake ration card holders. Our government removed them from the system. We linked the ration system to the Aadhar card and implemented the ‘One Nation, One Ration Card’ scheme, which ensured that everyone can avail its benefits, no matter which state they live in.
