
Bhubaneswar, 1 May (H.S.): A serious allegation has surfaced against Biswa Ranjan Mallick, BJD MLA from Bari constituency, as a government officer has filed a police complaint accusing him of physical assault and casteist abuse.
The complainant, Amar Ranjan Nayak, a Junior Revenue Assistant, alleged that the incident took place on Monday around 12:45 PM at the Bari Block Office, where he was summoned by the MLA. Upon reaching, Nayak claimed that MLA Mallick, accompanied by the block chairman, vice-chairman, and supporters, questioned him about a specific official file.
According to the complaint, the MLA then slapped him and made derogatory remarks related to his caste. Nayak further alleged that several of the MLA’s supporters also punched and kicked him during the confrontation.
Responding to the allegations, Inspector-in-Charge Jyotirmayee Sethy of Bari Ramachandrapur Police Station confirmed that a case has been registered and an investigation is underway.
