Oil India and HCL Ink Pact for Exploration of Critical Minerals

New Delhi, September 19 (HS): State-owned companies Oil India Limited and Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL) on Friday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on the exploration and development of critical and strategic minerals, including copper.

According to the Ministry of Mines, this partnership marks a significant milestone toward strengthening India’s mineral security. Aligned with the objectives of the Government of India’s National Critical Minerals Mission, the collaboration aims to secure vital mineral resources that are crucial for the country’s energy security, industrial growth, and technological advancement.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Sanjeev Kumar Singh, Chairman and Managing Director of HCL, and Dr. Ranjit Rath, Chairman and Managing Director of Oil India Limited.

Hindustan Copper Limited, a Miniratna public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Mines, specializes in copper ore mining, beneficiation, and sales of copper concentrate. Oil India Limited, a Maharatna PSU under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, is engaged in the exploration, development, production, and transportation of crude oil and natural gas.
