Om Birla to inaugurate two-day orientation program in Delhi Assembly on March 18

New Delhi, March 16 (H.S.): The Delhi Assembly is organizing a two-day orientation program for its newly elected members starting on March 18. This program will be inaugurated by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. The objective of the program is to provide legislators with information about parliamentary procedure, code of conduct, and best practices for good governance. The program will take place in the assembly’s auditorium.

The inaugural session will include Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta, Vice Speaker Mohan Singh Bisht, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, and Leader of the Opposition Atishi. The program will begin with the national anthem, lighting of the lamp, and a welcome speech. The Assembly Speaker will deliver the welcome address. After that, the Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition will address the assembly and emphasize the importance of legislative efficacy.

Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta stated that this orientation program is an important initiative to strengthen the legislative capabilities of our legislators. It will help them understand parliamentary processes, legislative drafting, and the significance of meaningful debates, enabling them to participate effectively in the assembly.

Experts from the Parliamentary Research and Training Institute for Democracies (PRIDE) will provide training to the newly elected legislators on parliamentary procedures and rules. Notably, PRIDE conducts training sessions for MPs, staff, and other relevant stakeholders under the guidance of the Lok Sabha Speaker.

This two-day program will be rich in lectures, panel discussions, and interactive sessions conducted by various experts, focusing on good governance, policy-making, and the legislative framework. These sessions will be held in a conference room near the Chief Minister’s office, where discussions will cover key topics such as constitutional responsibilities, ethical governance, and law-making processes. The program will conclude on March 19, 2025, with an address by Legislative Affairs Minister Pravesh Sahib Singh and a closing speech by Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta.
