Islamabad, May 7 (H.S.): The Pakistani military is shocked by India’s nighttime ‘Operation Sindoor’ against terrorism.
ISPR Director General Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry addressed journalists in a press conference. He stated that at least eight Pakistanis were killed and 35 were injured in the Indian missile strikes on cities in Punjab and POK. He denied that those killed were terrorists and attempted to characterize the targeted terrorist sites as common locations.
According to The Nation newspaper, military spokesman Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said that India carried out 24 strikes in six places in Pakistan, most of which were mosques. The attacks also caused significant damage to surrounding residential structures. The Pakistani armed forces are responding.
According to Pakistani state media, loud explosions were heard shortly after midnight in several cities, including Kotli, Bahawalpur, Muridke, Bagh, and Muzaffarabad. Shortly after this, Lieutenant General Chaudhry announced that the Indian armed forces had conducted missile strikes in the cities of Punjab and POK. He mentioned that the missiles were fired from within Indian airspace. Lieutenant General Chaudhry stated that the damage is currently being assessed.
According to eyewitnesses, strong explosions were reported in the hilly area near Muzaffarabad in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK) just after midnight. Power went out throughout the city after the blasts, plunging the area into darkness. The Pakistan Foreign Office commented on Operation Sindoor, stating that the Indian Air Force violated Pakistan’s sovereignty by using deadly weapons from its airspace without provocation. Civilian populations were targeted across the international border in Muridke and Bahawalpur, as well as across the Line of Control in Kotli and Muzaffarabad in POK. Military spokesperson Lieutenant General Chaudhry claimed that all Pakistan Air Force jets are in the air. He formally confirmed Indian missile attacks on three cities.
Defense experts say that tensions between India and Pakistan have been escalating since the Pahalgam terrorist attack. India has blamed Pakistan for the Pahalgam attack, while Islamabad has denied involvement. Meanwhile, the Indian Army announced on X, Justice is served. Jai Hind! in a post. An earlier post stated, Ready to attack, trained to win. Notably, the Indian Air Force also destroyed the Markaz Subhan Allah, located in Punjab province, which is the largest stronghold of terrorists in Pakistan. This serves as the operational headquarters for Jaish-e-Mohammed in Bahawalpur. This stronghold is linked to terrorist plots, including the Pulwama attack on February 14, 2019. The perpetrators of the Pulwama attack were trained in this camp.
