Agartala, 28 February (HS): The BJP-led government in Tripura faced criticism from Opposition Leader Jitendra Chaudhury over the demolition of allegedly illegal shops at Agartala’s Lake Chowmuhani Market.

After inspecting the market on Friday, the CPIM leader strongly denounced the government’s actions, calling them inhumane and cruel.

The affected individuals belong to poor backgrounds. The government’s use of force against them is completely undemocratic.

Many of the affected traders, though well-educated, have been compelled by economic hardships to sell fish, fruits, and vegetables, Chaudhury highlighted.

Government failures have left them with no choice but to occupy spaces like government land.

While the administration claims to have issued notices and announcements.

These concerns will be raised by the opposition in the forthcoming Assembly session.
