
NEW DELHI, 8 March (H.S.): The orientation program for the newly elected MLAs of
Delhi, similar to that of Parliament, is scheduled for March 18, during which
instruction on parliamentary conduct will be provided.
The orientation program for the newly elected Members of
the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) has been rescheduled to take place on March 18,
2025. This two-day event will be officially inaugurated by Lok Sabha Speaker Om
Birla. It will serve as a significant educational opportunity for the newly
elected MLAs. Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta previously met with Lok Sabha
Speaker Om Birla to extend a formal invitation for him to inaugurate the
program.
The aim of this orientation program is to equip the MLAs
with knowledge regarding legislative procedures, parliamentary behaviour, and
the governance framework. The program will enhance the MLAs’ comprehension of
their roles and responsibilities through interactive sessions, expert
discussions, and the sharing of knowledge and experiences, thereby equipping
them to engage more effectively in the Assembly.
Speaking about this
initiative, Vidhan Sabha Speaker Vijender Gupta stressed the importance of
preparing MLAs for their responsibilities. He said that this orientation
program has been designed to provide the necessary knowledge and skills to the
newly elected MLAs.This initiative will enhance
their comprehension of the significance of parliamentary procedures,
legislative drafting, and substantive debates. The orientation program is
scheduled for 18 and 19 March 2025, marking a crucial advancement in fortifying
the democratic and legislative framework of the Assembly.
