Orleans Masters 2025 :Ayush Shetty’s semi-final loss ends India’s campaign

France ,9 March (H.S.): India’s campaign at the Orleans Masters 2025 badminton tournament concluded as Ayush Shetty lost to Lin Chun-Yi from Chinese Taipei in the men’s singles semi-finals on Saturday.

The 19-year-old player, ranked 48th by BWF, was defeated by the world No. 14 with scores of 21-13, 21-15. Shetty initially led 6-2, but Lin, the tournament’s second seed, quickly leveled the score at 7-7 and then dominated the first game.

The second game was competitive, tied at 9-9, but Lin gained the upper hand after the mid-game break and finished the match in 40 minutes.

Earlier in the tournament, Shetty impressed by defeating former world champion Loh Kean Yew, along with wins over Jason Gunawan and Rasmus Gemke. India’s women’s singles challenge ended with early exits for Malvika Bansod, Unnati Hooda, and Isharani Baruah, while the mixed and men’s doubles teams also faced elimination.

The Indian players will next compete in the All England Open BWF Super 1000 tournament starting on Tuesday.
