Pak PM offers peace talks with India, linking proposal to Kashmir issue

Islamabad, May 16 (H.S.): Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif offered to engage in dialogue with India on Thursday, stating that Pakistan is ready for dialogue for peace. He made this statement during a visit to the Kamra Air Base in Punjab province, where he was meeting with Pakistani Air Force officials and personnel who were recently involved in military conflict with India.

Sharif said, “We are ready to talk to India for peace.” However, he also added that the issue of Jammu and Kashmir is included in the conditions for peace for such talks.

On the other hand, India has continuously made it clear that Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are integral and inseparable parts of India, and any kind of dialogue on this matter is not possible. Discussions with the neighboring country can only occur on the issue of terrorism.

During Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit, he was accompanied by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Army Chief General Asim Munir, and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Siddhu.

Earlier, Prime Minister Sharif had also visited the Pasrur Cantonment in Sialkot and interacted with soldiers. This was his second visit to a military establishment, indicating that the Pakistan government is continuously coordinating with the military regarding the current tensions.
