Delhi, 4 May (H.S.): Amid escalating tensions following a deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam, the Indian Army reported responding to unprovoked small arms fire from the Pakistan Army across the Line of Control (LoC) during the night of May 3-4. The incidents of firing occurred in several areas, including Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, Rajauri, Mendhar, Naushera, Sunderbani, and Akhnoor in Jammu and Kashmir.

This marked the tenth consecutive day that India retaliated against such provocations by Pakistan since the initial small-arms firing on April 25-26. The Indian Army affirmed its prompt and proportional response to the attacks.

Prior retaliations took place on the nights of May 2-3 against similar provocations in the Kupwara, Uri, and Akhnoor sectors. In a significant measure following the April 22 attack that resulted in 26 fatalities, India also closed its airspace to all Pakistani-registered aircraft, effective from April 30 to May 23.

Additionally, the Directors General of Military Operations of both nations engaged in a hotline discussion to address the ongoing ceasefire violations. India cautioned Pakistan against these actions along the LoC and the International Border.
