Islamabad, May 2 (H.S.): In response to the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, the Pakistan Broadcasters Association (PBA) has imposed a ban on Indian (Bollywood) songs. This decision, announced on May 1 by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, has also led to the blocking of several prominent Pakistani actors’ Instagram accounts.

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar commended the PBA for ceasing the broadcast of Indian songs on FM radio, highlighting the patriotic sentiment driving this action amid the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.

In a letter to the PBA’s secretary general, Tarar lauded the association’s principled stance and expressed pride in media groups that showcase national spirit. According to Film Beat, a site focused on Indian cinema, the ban affects all Indian songs broadcast in Pakistan, signaling a significant shift in cultural exchange between the nations.

A notification has been issued to ensure compliance across all media platforms, reinforcing the impact of the ban on the music landscape and social media landscape in Pakistan.
