Jaipur, May 11 (H.S.): Despite an agreement to halt military actions between India and Pakistan, alleged drone attacks from Pakistan have continued in the border districts of Rajasthan. Late Saturday night, Pakistani drones were sighted in the districts of Jaisalmer, Sri Ganganagar, and Barmer, prompting the Indian army to promptly take action and destroy them while still in the air. Residents reported hearing the sounds of six explosions one after the other during the night in Jaisalmer, creating a climate of fear among the people. However, there has been no official confirmation regarding the source of these explosions.
On Sunday morning, the discovery of old hand grenades and some rusty cartridges in the Pohra village of Jaisalmer’s Sadar police station area caused a sensation. Local residents believe that these may be from a previous military exercise. The police and army are currently investigating the matter.
Orders for a blackout were implemented on Saturday night, during which electricity supply was cut off in various districts of Rajasthan for a designated period. In Bikaner, the blackout was from Saturday evening at 7 PM to Sunday morning at 5 AM; in Jaisalmer, it was from 8:30 PM to 6 AM; in Jodhpur, from midnight to 4 AM; in Barmer, from 8:41 PM to 6 AM; in Hanumangarh and Phalodi, from 7 PM to sunrise; in Balotara, from 9 PM to 4 AM; and in Pali, from 10 PM to 4 AM. The blackout is set to continue in Sri Ganganagar until further notice.
Since May 22, a red alert and blackout have been ongoing in the border areas due to heightened tensions between India and Pakistan. By Sunday, the situation in these areas seemed to have normalized. Markets in Jaisalmer, Barmer, Bikaner, Sri Ganganagar, and Jodhpur opened as usual. People resumed movement on the streets, and daily life started to return to normal. According to a spokesperson for the district administration in Barmer, all types of activities are now permitted to resume. Markets will also open as usual.
On Saturday, a red alert was issued in Jodhpur due to the threat of a drone attack, but the situation remained calm there on Sunday morning. Milk and medicine shops opened on Kajri Road, PF Office Road, and other areas, and daily life appeared normal. Moreover, the railway department has also provided relief by restoring 16 trains that were previously canceled for security reasons. Partially canceled trains are now also set to run to their scheduled stations. Currently, the situation in the border districts is normal, but the vigilance of security forces remains intact.
