
New Delhi, May 9 (H.S.): The Indian Army stated that the armed forces of Pakistan launched several attacks using drones and other weapons along the entire western border during the night of Thursday to Friday. These attacks were effectively thwarted.
The ADG (PI) of the Indian Army shared this information on their official X account this morning. It was mentioned that Pakistani soldiers had violated the ceasefire agreement multiple times along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir.
In X post by the Indian Army, it was stated that the armed forces of Pakistan utilized drones and other weapons to carry out several attacks along the western border at midnight on May 8-9. Pakistani troops also violated the ceasefire multiple times along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir. While effectively foiling the drone attacks, a strong counter-response was given for the ceasefire violations.
The Indian Army is committed to protecting the nation’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and all malicious intentions will be met with forceful responses. It is notable that tensions between India and Pakistan have escalated following the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which resulted in the deaths of 26 people.
In a robust response to the Pahalgam massacre, the Indian armed forces launched missile attacks on terrorist hideouts, including the stronghold of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) in Bahawalpur, under Operation Sindoor on May 7. Meanwhile, India successfully thwarted an attempt by the Pakistani army to attack military bases with missiles and drones in Jammu, Pathankot, Udhampur, and some other locations on Thursday night.Sirens were heard and several explosions were reported in Akhnoor, Samba, Baramulla, Kupwara, and many other places. The Indian Army conducted extensive aerial surveillance along the border with Pakistan during the night.
Notably, the Ministry of Defence stated on Thursday that a suitable response would be given to any attacks on military bases in India. In a statement released late at night, the Ministry of Defence said, Today, Pakistan attacked with drones and missiles targeting military bases in Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur on the international border in Jammu and Kashmir. Threats were swiftly neutralized using both kinetic and non-kinetic capabilities in accordance with established standard operating procedures.
