Islamabad, June 25 (H.S.): Major Syed Moiz Abbas Shah of the Pakistan Army’s Special Service Group was killed in an encounter with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorists in South Waziristan. He was previously known for capturing Indian Air Force Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman after his jet crashed during the Balakot airstrike.

The encounter resulted in the deaths of 11 terrorists, with seven others injured, following a military operation based on intelligence in Sarogha area on Tuesday. Amid heavy gunfire, both Major Shah and Lance Naik Zibran Ullah lost their lives. Major Shah’s death is viewed as a significant loss for the Pakistan Army.

Abhinandan Varthaman, now a Group Captain, was honored nationally upon his return and has received the Maha Vir Chakra for his courageous actions.
