Pandit Bhushan Bazaz Passes Away at 91

New Delhi- Pandit Bhushan Bazaz, noted social and political thinker, founder of the Jammu & Kashmir Democratic Front (JKDF), and son of the renowned writer and Kashmir historian Pandit Prem Nath Bazaz, passed away today after a prolonged illness. He was 91.

Pandit Bhushan Bazaz was widely respected as a consistent and principled Kashmiri Pandit voice for brotherhood and Kashmiriyat. Throughout his life, he stood for peace, reconciliation and dialogue, and remained committed to fostering harmony, mutual respect and understanding among the diverse communities of Jammu and Kashmir.

As founder of the JKDF, he articulated a vision rooted in democratic values, non-violence and inclusive engagement, and was known for his thoughtful interventions on issues concerning society, identity and coexistence.

He is survived by his wife and son.

His demise marks the end of an era and a significant loss to the social and intellectual life of Kashmir.
