Aligarh, 13 April (HS): A
three-year-old kid died one and a half month after being bitten by a rabid dog,
authorities announced on Sunday. They also discovered that ten additional
children were assaulted by the same dog and had not received care. Anshu, the
victim, died of rabies complications on Friday at a private hospital in his
hamlet, according to reports. The event happened in Nagla Nathlu village, which
is within the jurisdiction of the Charra police station. His relatives said
that a few days before his death, he began to exhibit unusual symptoms such as
hydrophobia (an excessive dread of water), which is a common indicator of
severe rabies. His death revealed that the same rabid dog had attacked around
ten other youngsters as well. Following this, a team of health authorities
arrived in the area on Friday.
The medical team discovered that
none of the 10 previous kid victims, ages two to twelve, had sought medical
attention after being bitten by a rabid animal. Dr. Neeraj Tyagi, Chief Medical
Officer (CMO) of Aligarh district, informed journalists that we have taken this
situation very seriously and are launching a push for all preventative
measures, such as the provision of anti-rabies vaccinations. However, CMO
stated that he could not conclusively certify rabies as the reason of Anshu’s
death.
First, the rogue dog was killed following the event, so we were unable to
conduct canine testing. Similarly, we couldn’t check the deceased toddler
before he died to establish a diagnosis, he stated. He also informed the public
that government hospitals have an enough supply of anti-rabies vaccinations to
tackle the threat.
