Chennai, 13 April (H.S.) : The Communist Party of India (CPI) has issued a stern warning to Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi, stating that a people’s uprising will be necessary to curb his unruly behavior. CPI State Secretary R. Mutharasan strongly condemned the Governor’s recent actions, particularly his reported urging of students to chant religious slogans at an event in Madurai.
Mutharasan asserted that Governor Ravi is consistently acting in a manner that disregards the sentiments of the Tamil people and the state’s secular traditions. He criticized the Governor for allegedly attempting to impose his personal religious beliefs on students and for what the CPI perceives as a pattern of confrontational behavior with the democratically elected state government.
The CPI State Secretary emphasized that the people of Tamil Nadu have a history of rising against actions that undermine their cultural and political ethos. He cautioned that if Governor Ravi continues to act in a way that is seen as disrespectful and disruptive, a significant public outcry will emerge to demand adherence to the principles of secularism and state autonomy.
Mutharasan’s statement comes in the wake of growing criticism of Governor Ravi’s conduct from various political parties and social organizations in Tamil Nadu. The CPI’s strong condemnation signals increasing pressure on the Governor to conduct himself in a manner more aligned with the constitutional responsibilities of his office and the cultural values of the state.
