Delhi, 9 June (H.S.): Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, initiated his official visit to Switzerland on 9th June 2025, as part of a broader trip to Switzerland and Sweden from 9-13 June. This endeavor emphasizes India’s dedication to enhancing strategic and economic partnerships with influential European countries, promoting robust trade, investment ties, and a collective vision for sustainable global growth.

The visit aims to boost India’s engagement with two of Europe’s most innovative economies. Minister Goyal’s agenda includes significant interactions with senior officials, industry leaders, and business groups in both nations. In Switzerland, he will meet with global CEOs to explore avenues for bolstering bilateral trade and investment, holding sector-specific discussions with Swiss leaders in Pharma and Life Sciences, as well as Precision Engineering and High-tech Manufacturing. Notable milestones include a meeting with Federal Councillor Guy Parmelin, strengthening trade and diplomatic relations.

Additionally, the visit involves direct meetings with major Swiss companies, with Indian representatives fostering dialogue on collaboration opportunities. Participation in the Swissmem Industry Day and a Business Round Table focusing on the India-EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA) is also on the agenda.

In Sweden, Minister Goyal will co-chair the 21st Session of the Indo-Swedish Joint Commission for Economic, Industrial and Scientific Cooperation with Minister Benjamin Dousa. Bilateral meetings will aim to enhance existing economic ties and explore new growth opportunities. Key discussions will cover sectors where Sweden excels, including advanced manufacturing and green technologies, involving major companies like Ericsson, Volvo Group, and IKEA. The visit concludes with engagements with the Indian diaspora to reinforce people-to-people connections.
