Imphal, 15 March (HS): Manipur Police has arrested Thokchom Diamond Meitei alias Tamthouba (26), a rebel of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) from Longmeidong Mamang Laikai in Kakching district. He was involved in activities of threatening and extorting school staff, police said on Saturday. A mobile phone and a wallet with ₹320 have been recovered from his possession.

Besides, a huge cache of arms and explosives have been recovered from Dampi Ridge area of Churachandpur district in another search operation. These include one .303 rifle with magazine, one locally made single barrel gun, one local .22 rifle, two Pumpi, two 70 mm live cartridges, four live Pumpi rounds, two IEDs, four anti-riot stun shells, two SMC carbine magazines, one Baofeng radio set, one BP helmet, two pairs of jungle shoes and one ammunition pouch. Police are investigating the matter.
