He stated that the life of Lord Buddha will continue to inspire everyone towards compassion and peace. In a message on X, Prime Minister Modi said that the teachings of Lord Buddha have been a guiding light for humanity.

He wrote on X, st wishes to all countrymen on Buddha Purnima. Lord Buddha’s messages based on the principles of truth, equality and harmony have been a guide for humanity. His life dedicated to sacrifice and penance will always inspire the world community towards compassion and peace.

Buddha Purnima is considered special for various reasons. It is celebrated as the birth of Lord Buddha, the attainment of enlightenment, and Mahaparinirvana. Gautam Buddha was born on the full moon day of Vaishakh, which is also the day he gained enlightenment. Buddha Purnima (Vesak or Hinamatsoori) is a major festival for those who follow Buddhism.
