PM Modi says India urged Pakistan to stop backing terrorism, but faced betrayal

New Delhi, March 16 (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussed India’s foreign policy and major international issues in a Podcast with Lex Fridman on Sunday. During this, he advised Pakistan to learn from its mistakes and adopt the right path. He stated that international organizations have failed to play their roles. He also talked about US President Trump, relations with China, and the Ukraine-Russia conflict.

Prime Minister Modi was interviewed today by American computer scientist and podcaster Lex Fridman.Regarding Pakistan, the Prime Minister mentioned that he has made several sincere efforts to improve relations with the neighboring country, but each time he has encountered deceit and hostility. He invited the Prime Minister of Pakistan to his swearing-in ceremony and even traveled to Pakistan on a special flight.

In the interview, Prime Minister Narendra Modi repeatedly emphasized that India advocates peace. He stated that the people of Pakistan also desire peace. Pakistan continues to be a cause for concern not only for India but for the world. It is not changing its policy of supporting terrorism. However, Pakistan does not seem to understand that promoting anarchic elements within its borders is ultimately detrimental to itself. He expressed hope that Pakistan would learn from its mistakes and adopt the right path.

Prime Minister Modi praised US President Trump’s courage, stating that he wants to make America first, just as he wants to make his own country first. He mentioned that the biggest quality of the US President is that he makes his decisions independently. He also referred to the strong friendship between himself and President Trump.

In his interview, the Prime Minister said that the United Nations has succeeded in playing its role. Many international organizations are not adapting to change over time. He mentioned that the changes that occurred in the world order after World War II taught the world the importance of unity. During COVID, we all faced a similar disaster, yet despite this, battles and conflicts over interests emerged in the world when it should have been unified. The UN has failed to prevent these conflicts. Countries are operating arbitrarily.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi advised Russia and Ukraine to come to the negotiating table, stating that given the global situation, this is the best opportunity for the conflict to end. He shared how he encouraged both the Russian President and the Ukrainian President to seek a solution through dialogue. He told Ukrainian President Zelensky, “No matter how many partners stand with him in the world, the resolution of the conflict will not come on the battlefield but at the negotiation table.” He believes that the price of the Russia-Ukraine conflict is being borne not only by both countries but also by the Global South. Prices of oil, fertilizers, and food items have increased worldwide.
