Hyderabad/ Delhi, 21 May (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually inaugurate the revamped Begumpet Railway Station in Hyderabad on May 22, operated entirely by women. Upgraded under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme at a cost of Rs 26.55 crore, the station features passenger-friendly amenities, including escalators, lifts, spacious waiting areas, modern toilets, and facilities for differently-abled travelers.

A model of the Indian Roller, Telangana’s state bird, serves as a symbolic centerpiece. The station’s design incorporates enhanced lighting, landscaped gardens, and water features, improving the commuting experience. A new 12-meter-long foot overbridge facilitates safe platform access for passengers.

Additionally, the Indian Railways is renovating 40 stations across Telangana under the same scheme, investing Rs 2,750 crore to modernize them while preserving local culture. Redevelopments are ongoing in stations like Hitec City, Malakpet, Umdanagar, Hafeezpet, Yakutpura, and Malkajgiri, with upgrades at some already completed.
