
Delhi, 1 May (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended greetings to the people of Maharashtra on the 65th anniversary of the state’s formation, acknowledging its crucial role in India’s development. In a social media post, he highlighted Maharashtra’s rich history and the courage of its people, referring to the state as a strong pillar of progress while remaining connected to its roots. He wished for the state’s continued advancement.
On this day, official celebrations commenced with Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar unfurling the national flag at the Pune City Police Headquarters Parade Ground, marking Maharashtra’s Foundation Day.
Congress MP Rahul Gandhi also expressed his good wishes, recognizing the historical and cultural significance of Maharashtra and Gujarat, emphasizing their contributions to India’s progress and calling for unity and prosperity.
Maharashtra Day, celebrated annually on May 1st, commemorates the state’s creation in 1960 following the bifurcation of Bombay State based on language.
