
Islamabad, March 13 (HS): Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif arrives in Quetta, the capital of the country’s most troubled province, Balochistan, today. His visit comes in the wake of the Jafar Express hijacking incident. He will review the law and order situation in Quetta. According to The News International, this visit by Prime Minister Sharif follows the killing of all 33 fighters from the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) who were involved in the abduction of the Jafar Express, which had over 400 passengers on board. The BLA fighters had taken all the passengers hostage.
The Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, stated that the operation to free the hostages lasted nearly two days. He announced the completion of the operation, stating that the Pakistan Air Force, Special Services Group, Army, and Frontier Corps had killed all 33 BLA fighters during this period.
