Police fired amid stone-pelting in Hazaribagh

Ruckus in Hazaribagh

Hazaribagh, March 26 (HS): Tension lingered in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, during the second Mangal procession for Ram Navami, marked by stone-pelting incidents. Police were deployed to manage the situation after two groups clashed near Flag Square, resulting in heavy stone-throwing but no reported injuries.

As chaos ensued, thousands gathered at Jama Masjid Road, prompting Hazaribagh SP Arvind Kumar Singh to arrive with reinforcements. Initial attempts to disperse the crowd with a lathi charge failed, leading police to fire shots.

Efforts to calm the situation included local leaders and Ram Navami Mahasangh members advising the assembly. SP Singh confirmed order is restored and urged citizens to ignore rumors, promising legal action against violators, with FIRs being filed against those involved in the disturbances.
