Police help tourists move safely during heavy snowfall in Tangmarg

Srinagar, Jan 24 (KINS): Police in Baramulla successfully helped tourists travel safely despite heavy snowfall and slippery roads in the Tangmarg Sub-Division.
Due to continuous snowfall, the Tangmarg–Gulmarg road became dangerous, leaving many tourists stranded on both sides. Acting quickly, police managed the safe movement of around 1,600 tourists in very tough weather conditions. About 1,000 tourists were escorted from Tangmarg to Gulmarg, while 600 tourists were safely moved from Gulmarg towards Tangmarg and Srinagar.
Police officers and personnel remained on the ground throughout the operation and worked closely with the magistracy, Medical Emergency Department (MED), CAPF, and other security agencies. Coordination was also maintained with Budgam and Srinagar police.
To ensure safety, police allowed traffic through a controlled one-way system, moving 10 to 12 vehicles at a time in both directions. Only 4×4 vehicles fitted with anti-skid chains were permitted on the road to handle the snow and slippery conditions.
Police have again advised that only vehicles with anti-skid chains should use the route. As there is a risk of black ice and slippery roads in the coming days, travelers are advised to avoid unnecessary travel during snowfall and strictly follow official advisories. Police have assured that help is available round the clock.(KINS)
