Kathmandu, April 15 (HS): On Nepal’s New Year, Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda announced the expectation of a new government and coalition. In contrast, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli dismissed these claims as mere daydreams.
Prachanda, in a New Year message, urged the citizens to anticipate a new governance structure, suggesting that the Nepali Congress, led by Sher Bahadur Deuba, should leave Oli’s government and form a new one under his leadership. He emphasized that it is crucial for the Nepali Congress to lead to alleviate the country’s despair, offering unconditional support to make Deuba the Prime Minister.
Prachanda insisted that the Congress party could join the government or receive backing from outside if they chose not to join. He expressed optimism about the emergence of a new government soon. There has been no official response from the Nepali Congress regarding Prachanda’s proposition.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Oli reasserted his confidence in the stability of his administration, branding Prachanda’s aspirations as unrealistic and maintaining that his coalition will remain intact. Oli remarked that despite Prachanda’s discontent since his removal from power, no governmental change is forthcoming, underscoring the current government’s effective functioning with the Nepali Congress.
