
Chicago, July 31(HS): Manchester United achieved their second consecutive victory in the Premier League Summer Series by defeating Bournemouth 4-1 at Soldier Field Stadium in Chicago. Goals came from Rasmus Hojlund, Patrick Dorgu, Amad Diallo and teenager Ethan Williams for United, who had previously won 2-1 against West Ham. The match was played in rainy, windy conditions. Hojlund opened the scoring in the eighth minute with a header from Dorgu’s cross. Dorgu doubled the lead in the 25th minute after controlling a free kick from Mason Mount.
Amad Diallo added a third goal in the 53rd minute, and shortly after making nine substitutions, Ethan Williams scored the fourth in the 72nd minute with a low shot. United’s only setback came in the 88th minute when Matthijs de Ligt scored an own goal. In the day’s other match, West Ham came back to beat Everton 2-1.
Idrissa Gueye initially put Everton ahead, but Lucas Paquetá equalized before Niclas Füllkrug scored the winner. Everton suffered their second consecutive pre-season defeat. The tournament will conclude on Sunday in Atlanta with Manchester United facing Everton and West Ham playing against Bournemouth.
