
New Delhi, April 25 (HS): The domestic stock market is facing pressure in early trading today. Initially, both Sensex and Nifty saw slight gains due to buying support. However, within the first 10 minutes, selling pressure emerged, pushing both indices into the red.
By 10 AM, the Sensex was down 0.80% and the Nifty by 0.86%. Major stocks like SBI Life Insurance, TCS, HCL Technology, Reliance Industries, and JSW Steel were up between 4.99% and 0.10%. Conversely, Axis Bank, Bajaj Finance, Trent Limited, Bajaj Finserv, and Tech Mahindra declined between 3.54% and 0.98%.
During the trading session, 2,061 stocks were active: 330 in the green and 1,731 in the red. In the Sensex, out of 30 stocks, only 4 remained positive while 26 were negative. The Nifty had 15 stocks in the green and 35 in the red. The BSE Sensex opened with a minor gain of 28.72 points at 79,830.15 but quickly fell to a low of 79,160.97 points, down 640.46 points by 10 AM.
The NSE Nifty began trading with a gain of 42.30 points at 24,289 but dropped to 24,039.35 points, down 207.35 points by 10 AM. On the previous trading day, the Sensex closed down 315.06 points (0.39%), and the Nifty was down 82.25 points (0.34%).
