

New Delhi, 14 April (H.S.): The 135th Ambedkar Jayanti celebrations took place on April 14, 2025, organized by the Dr. Ambedkar Foundation (DAF) under the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. The event commenced with floral tributes paid by notable figures, including President Droupadi Murmu, Vice-President Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, at the Babasaheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar statue in Parliament House. Following the official ceremony, the public was invited, leading to a large turnout to pay homage to Ambedkar at Prerna Sthal. The celebrations featured Buddhist chants performed by monks and songs honoring Ambedkar by artists from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
Dr. Ambedkar Jayanti is an annual observance to honor the birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, a pivotal figure in India’s constitutional development and a champion for marginalized communities, whose ideologies of social justice and equality continue to enlighten future generations. The ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including MoS (SJ&E) B.L. Verma and other senior officials.
The Dr. Ambedkar Foundation, established in 1992, aims to promote Ambedkar’s principles nationwide. In addition, the Dr. Ambedkar National Memorial (DANM) serves to commemorate his life and work, containing a museum with personal artifacts, photographs, and documents illustrating his contributions as a social reformer, jurist, and politician, complemented by audio-visual exhibits of his speeches.
