Pro-monarchists rally for Former king Gyanendra's arrival in Kathmandu

Kathmandu, March 9 (H.S.): Former King Gyanendra Shah of Nepal is set to return to Kathmandu on Sunday, showcasing his public support with a grand road show alongside thousands of supporters.

Upon requests from his family, a significant crowd has already started to gather from Kathmandu and nearby districts. Shah, along with family, will arrive from Pokhara at 3 PM, where he will be welcomed by the monarchist National Democracy Party at Tribhuvan International Airport.

Recently, Former king Gyanendra Shah held a national tour and issued a video message on February 19 during Democracy Day, urging public support for the monarchy. The National Democracy Party has actively campaigned for the restoration of the monarchy, mobilizing supporters to welcome Shah at the airport.

Ahead of this event, a nationwide bike rally has taken place. Rajendra Lingden, the party’s president, mentioned that about 25,000 supporters are expected to greet the former King and escort him to his residence in Maharajgunj. He stressed that the party is focused on restoring the monarchy and will persist in this effort, asserting that the Nepali people advocate for a constitutional monarchy alongside a multi-party democracy.Lingden claimed that the current republic and secularism in Nepal were imposed by foreign powers on local political parties.
