Guwahati, 18 May (HS): Investment proposals worth ₹23,000 crore under Advantage Assam 2.0 have now moved into the implementation phase. Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Sunday that these projects are expected to generate around 6,000 new jobs in the state.
The announcement was made during a high-level investment summit held at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra in Guwahati. Over 20 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed during the event. The Chief Minister termed the event as the “beginning of a new era of investment and development in Assam.”
Sarma said Assam has taken concrete steps to promote industrialization. “So far, we have signed investment agreements worth ₹5.18 lakh crore, and projects worth ₹30,000 crore are close to being grounded,” he stated.
Key infrastructure projects such as the Guwahati Ring Road and the Narengi-Kurua Bridge were also mentioned, with a total proposed investment of ₹7,800 crore. These projects will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 8.
Meanwhile, the central government has approved the Guwahati-Silchar Express Highway (₹23,000 crore), which will significantly enhance intra-state connectivity and strategic transport links.
