R-Parade Reflects India’s Democracy, Unity: PM

New Delhi- Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said India celebrated the 77th Republic Day with great enthusiasm and pride, with the grand parade at Kartavya Path reflecting the strength of the country’s democracy, the richness of its heritage and the unity that binds the nation together.

In a series of posts on X, Modi said Kartavya Path witnessed a powerful display of national pride during the Republic Day celebrations. “The magnificent parade at Kartavya Path showcased the strength of our democracy, the richness of our heritage and the unity that binds our nation together,” he said.

The prime minister said India was privileged to host Antonio Costa, President of the European Council, and Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, during the celebrations. He said their presence underscored the growing strength of the India–European Union partnership and India’s commitment to shared values.

“Their presence underscores the growing strength of the India–European Union partnership and our commitment to shared values,” Modi said, adding that the visit of the EU leaders would give fresh momentum to India’s engagement and cooperation with Europe across diverse sectors.

Highlighting the security dimension of the parade, the prime minister said the Republic Day celebrations showcased India’s formidable security apparatus, reflecting the nation’s preparedness, technological capability and unwavering commitment to safeguarding its citizens. He said the parade offered a glimpse into the strengthening capabilities of India’s security forces, describing them as the pride of the nation.

Modi also said the celebrations presented a vivid display of India’s cultural mosaic. He noted that vibrant performances and tableaux at Kartavya Path celebrated the country’s cultural diversity and reflected the rich and diverse heritage of the nation.

Separately, the prime minister thanked several world leaders for extending greetings on India’s 77th Republic Day. Expressing gratitude to Emmanuel Macron, Modi said he looked forward to welcoming him to India soon and further deepening and diversifying the India–France strategic partnership. Macron, in his message, recalled his visit as the chief guest at India’s Republic Day celebrations in 2024.

Modi also thanked Tshering Tobgay for his wishes, saying the special bonds of friendship and unique ties between India and Bhutan would continue to grow stronger.

Replying to greetings from Nikos Christodoulides, the prime minister described Cyprus as a close friend and trusted partner and reaffirmed India’s commitment to deepening the comprehensive partnership. He also said he looked forward to welcoming the Cypriot president to India.

The prime minister said the Republic Day celebrations reflected India’s democratic spirit, cultural vibrancy and expanding global partnerships, reinforcing the country’s position as a confident and engaged nation on the world stage.
