Rabi Lamichhane sent to Bhairahawa jail

Rabi Lamichhane

Kathmandu, April 7 (HS): The High Court has revoked former Deputy Prime Minister Rabi Lamichhane’s bail related to a cooperative fraud, leading to his judicial custody in Bhairahawa jail. The Butwal High Court ordered his immediate arrest, canceling bail granted by the district court.

Lamichhane was apprehended at midnight on Friday at his Kathmandu residence and presented to the Butwal High Court the following Monday. He remained in police custody over a public holiday weekend before being transferred to jail on Tuesday.

Currently, Lamichhane is housed alone in Block 4 of Bhairahawa jail for security reasons, as reported by Jailor Suresh Bhandari, reflecting the concerns surrounding his status as a VIP inmate.
