
Chennai, 12 April (H.S.) : Tragedy struck in Sriperumbudur as a Class 8 student succumbed to his injuries five days after being bitten by a stray dog. The 13-year-old boy, identified as S. Akash, a resident of the Bharathi Nagar area in Sriperumbudur, was bitten on his leg by the dog on April 7th.
Akash received initial treatment at the Sriperumbudur Government Hospital following the incident. However, his condition reportedly worsened, and he was subsequently referred to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital (RGGGH) in Chennai for further treatment. Despite medical efforts, Akash tragically passed away on Friday.
The incident has raised concerns among local residents regarding the increasing stray dog menace in the Sriperumbudur area and the potential dangers posed to children. Authorities are likely to face pressure to address the issue of stray dog control and ensure the safety of the community. The news of the young boy’s death has cast a pall of gloom over the area.
