
New Delhi, May 13 (HS): In Delhi, heavy rain on Tuesday provided relief from the intense heat, with evening showers and strong winds improving the weather across the NCR. The capital recorded a minimum temperature of 27.7°C and a maximum of 40.2°C. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts that intermittent rain may continue for the next 24 hours, along with strong winds during the day on Wednesday. Partially cloudy skies are expected, with surface winds blowing at 15-25 km/h, occasionally reaching 35 km/h. The temperature is likely to remain between 40-42°C (maximum) and 27-29°C (minimum), both slightly above normal. Thursday’s weather is anticipated to mirror Wednesday’s conditions, with similar temperature ranges and wind speeds.
On Friday, the forecast suggests partly cloudy skies with potential for very light rain, storms, and strong winds peaking at 40 km/h, possibly reaching 50 km/h during thunderstorms. The expected temperature range remains consistent at 40-42°C (maximum) and 28-30°C (minimum).
Regarding the monsoon, the southwest monsoon has progressed to the southern Bay of Bengal, southern Andaman Sea, Nicobar Islands, and northern Andaman Sea. Rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is anticipated in southern peninsular and adjacent central India over the next five days, with heavy rainfall expected in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu. Additionally, northeastern India is likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall during this period. Heatwaves could affect parts of Uttar Pradesh, western Rajasthan, and regions in West Bengal and Jharkhand between May 14-19.
