
New Delhi, April 26 (H.S.): The Fisheries Department is hosting the Coastal States Conference-2025 on April 28 at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in Mumbai, chaired by Union Minister Rajeev Ranjan Singh (Lalan Singh). The event will feature participation from Prof. S.P. Singh Baghel and George Kurien, both Ministers of State for Health and Family Welfare. Singh will inaugurate projects worth ₹255.30 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) for seven coastal states and Union Territories, highlighting the government’s commitment to the fisheries sector.
Key initiatives will include a marine fisheries census, Turtle Excluder Device (TED) project, and operating procedures for vessel communication. Certificates will be awarded to outstanding cooperatives, fisheries startups, and climate-resilient coastal communities. Beneficiaries will also receive aqua insurance certificates and farmer credit cards as part of the Prime Minister’s Matsya Kisan Samriddhi Co-scheme.
