Rani Avantibai Lodhi Embodied Patriotism, Sacrifice and Valor: Gadkari

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari

New Delhi, Aug 24 (HS): Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on Sunday paid rich tributes to freedom fighter Rani Avantibai Lodhi on her 194th birth anniversary, describing her life as a symbol of nationalism, sacrifice, and unmatched courage.

Speaking at a function organized by the Lodhi Kshatriya Lok Kalyan Foundation in Nagpur, Gadkari recalled Avantibai’s defiance against the British during the First War of Independence in 1857. He hailed her as one of the first women martyrs of India’s freedom struggle.

“Rani Avantibai, the queen of Ramgarh in Madhya Pradesh, fought bravely against the British East India Company. Rather than bow to colonial rule, she chose martyrdom to uphold the honor of her land and people. Her saga of sacrifice continues to inspire generations,” Gadkari said.

Urging people to draw inspiration from her legacy, Gadkari appealed to citizens to nurture patriotism and national duty, calling it the “true tribute” to the warrior queen. Concluding his address with folded hands, he invoked Rani Avantibai’s blessings, expressing hope that her ideals would deepen the spirit of nationalism and public service in society.
